IES Selection Process

UPSC IES Selection Process: IES exam consists of recruiting engineers who will work under the government of India in several sectors such as Indian Railways, Power, Telecommunications, Roadways, Construction.

There are many growth opportunities as the first position offered is Asst. executive engineer and the hierarchy goes at the position of Chairman/ Managing Director. Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) conducts the IES exam for the recruitment of engineers.

The IES exam selection process comprises of a written examination followed by an interview for the personality test. The recruitment of qualified candidates is formed under the following categories:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

IES Exam Selection Process

The IES Exam Selection Procedure Contains the Following Steps to Recruit Engineers for Railways, Power, Telecommunication and Constructions.

Fill IES application form 2020-21

  • The candidates can fill the IES application form 2020 online on the official website of UPSC
  • The candidates must choose the preferred exam center at the time of filling the form.
  • The candidates must submit the stipulated application fees as per their category

Download IES Admit Card 2020

  • The candidates can download the admit card that will be issued on the official website with their application number and date of birth.
  • UPSC admit card is an essential document contains necessary information. It is advisable to preserve the admit card safely until the admission process will successfully be conducted.

Attend IES Preliminary Exam 2020

  • The candidates must appear for the IES 2020 preliminary entrance exam as per the schedule mentioned in the important date’s section
  • It is necessary to reach the exam center at least an hour before the commencement of the exam

IES Preliminary Exam result -2020

  • UPSC will declare the results for IES 2020 preliminary exam on the official website.
  • The candidates can check their IES 2020-21 preliminary results by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.
  • After the IES Result for the preliminary exam 2020, the candidates must fill the IES Main Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the IES Main Exam 2020.

IES Main Exam 2020

  • The candidates who clear the IES preliminary examination will be allowed to appear for IES 2020 main entrance exam as per the schedule mentioned in the important date’s section
  • It is necessary to reach the exam center at least an hour before the commencement of the IES Main exam

IES Main Result 2020

  • UPSC will declare the results for IES 2020 main entrance exams on the official website.
  • The candidates can check their IES 2020 main results by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.
  • The candidates who clear the IES 2020 main exam will then be called for the interview round. This is the final stage of the IES exam selection process.

IES Interview 2020

  • IES selection procedure consists of the Personal Interview round.
  • The candidates who clear both IES preliminary and main examination are only allowed to participate in the final interview round.
  • The candidates who clear the personal interview round will be qualified for the recruitment process.

IES Result 2020

  • UPSC will start with the recruitment of IES 2020 qualified candidates at several government offices based on the selected branch if vacancies are available.
  • After this last UPSC IES selection process, the candidates can join the government offices as executive engineers or mid-level managers.

IES Cut-off and Reserve List

  • IES cut-off will release after the final result.
  • IES reserve list will also issue stating the number of candidates for each category and for each Engineering branch.

IES officer selection procedure

IES selection process 2020 will be made to the services/posts under the below categories on the basis of results of this examination:

  • Category I – Civil Engineering
  • Category II ‐ Mechanical Engineering
  • Category III ‐ Electrical Engineering
  • Category IV ‐ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

The number of vacancies can be liable to alteration if necessary. The reservations will be created for the candidates that belong to scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, other backward classes and physically disabled category which is fixed by the Government of India.

IES selection criteria 2020

The candidates should fulfill some essential requirements for participating in the UPSC IES selection process

  • A candidate should be physically fit as per the physical standards for taking admission in IES Examination 2020
  • A candidate must be a citizen of India for appearing in the IES exam.
  • A candidate should obtain a degree in Engineering from a recognized university
  • A candidate must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the IES 2020 selection process and must not be more than 30 years of age on the 1st January 2020.
