These scores are further converted into a scaled score by the normalization process. This is done to ensure fairness in the comparison of performances, as question papers of the forenoon and afternoon session of CAT slightly vary from each other.

  • CAT Percentile is a relative value and can be seen as a measure through which you can find out what percentage of test takers were below or above you in the final results.

  • CAT Exam
  • Academic and Work Experience
  • GD / PI Score

CAT Exam Selection Process

The traditional CAT selection process has mainly three rounds, i.e. GD, WTA, and PI rounds. 10 out of 20 IIMs follow the traditional process.  But 10 IIMs are opting for the new process this year. The new process also called the Common Admission Process (CAP), will be conducted by IIM Ranchi. IIM Kozhikode is responsible for conducting CAT throughout the country.

CAT Selection Process: Written Test, GD or Written Ability Test, and Personal Interview

  • While some of the other institutes will directly conduct the Written Test.
  • For Group discussion (GD), candidates are divided into a group of 8-10 each. The purpose of GD is to check your thought process and teamwork abilities.
  • For written ability test (WAT), you will be given 15-45 minutes depending upon the respective IIM.

  • Overall CAT score
  • Academic Qualification (from Xth standard onwards)
  • Overall work experience
