आखिरी शेर में गुलमोहर की चर्चा हुई है। क्या उसका आशय एक खास तरह के फूलदार वृक्ष से है या उसमें कोई सांकेतिक अर्थ निहित है। समझाकर लिखें।
उत्तर –
अंतिम शेर में गुलमोहर का शाब्दिक अर्थ तो एक खास फूलदार वृक्ष से ही है, पर सांकेतिक अर्थ बड़ा मार्मिक है। इस शेर में कवि दुष्यंत कुमारे यह बताना चाहते हैं कि जीवन वही उत्तम है जो अपने घर की सुखद छाया में है और मरना वह उत्तम है कि दूसरों को सुख देने के लिए मरा जा सके।

प्रश्न 2:
पहले शेर में ‘चिराग’ शब्द एक बार बहुवचन में आया है और दूसरी बार एकवचन में। अर्थ एवं काव्य-सौंदर्य की दृष्टि से इसका क्या महत्व है?
उत्तर –
पहले शेर में ‘चिराग’ शब्द का बहुवचन, ‘चिरागाँ’ का प्रयोग हुआ है। इसका अर्थ था-बहुत-सारी सुख-सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध करवाना, दूसरी बार यह एकवचन में प्रयुक्त हुआ है। इसमें इसका अर्थ है-सीमित सुविधाएँ मिलना। दोनों का अपना महत्व है। बहुवचन के रूप में यह कल्पना को बताता है, जबकि दूसरा रूप यथार्थ को दर्शाता है। कवि ने एक ही शब्द का प्रतीकात्मक व लाक्षणिक शब्द करके अपनी अद्भुत कल्पना क्षमता का परिचय दिया है।

गजल के तीसरे शेर को गौर से पढ़ें। यहाँ दुष्यंत का इशारा किस तरह के लोगों की ओर है?
उत्तर –
न हो कमीज़ तो पावों से पेट बँक लेंगे,
ये लोग कितने मुनासिब हैं इस सफ़र के लिए।
यहाँ उन लोगों की ओर इशारा किया गया है जो हीनता और तंगहाली अथवा अभाव के समय तन ढकने के लिए कमीज़ पाने का प्रयास नहीं करते वरन् उस अभावग्रस्त दशा में अपने पैरों से पेट ढककर जीवन जी लेते हैं। उनके लिए मुनासिब शब्द का प्रयोग करता हुआ कवि यह भी स्पष्ट कर देना चाहता है कि जीवन की यह शैली अपनानेवाले ही आज जी सकते हैं।

आशय स्पष्ट करें:
तेरा निजाम है सिल दे जुबान शायर की,
ये एहतियात जरूरी है इस बहर के लिए।
उत्तर –
इसमें कवि शायरों और शासक के संबंधों के बारे में बताता है। शायर सत्ता के खिलाफ लोगों को जागरूक करता है। इससे सत्ता को क्रांति का खतरा लगता है। वे स्वयं को बचाने के लिए शायरों की जबान अर्थात् कविताओं पर प्रतिबंध लगा सकते हैं। जैसे गजल के छद के लिए बंधन की सावधानी जरूरी है, उसी तरह शासकों को भी अपनी सत्ता कायम रखने के लिए विरोध को दबाना जरूरी है।

गज़ल को बार-बार पढ़कर सहपाठियों के साथ विचार करें, परस्पर चर्चा करें कि दुष्यंत किस बात से खिन्न हैं और व्यवस्था में बदलाव क्यों चाहते हैं? उपर्युक्त प्रश्न परिचर्चा के आयोजन के लिए है।

उत्तर –
दुष्यंत की गजल पर चौथा शेर है-
खुदा नहीं, न सही, आदमी का ख्वाब सही,
कोई हसीन नजारा तो है नजर के लिए।
गालिब के शेर से यह शेर पूरी तरह प्रभावित है। दोनों का अर्थ एक जैसा है। गालिब ‘जन्नत’ को तथा दुष्यंत खुदा को मानव की कल्पना मानते हैं। दोनों इनके अस्तित्व को मन संतुष्ट रखने का कारण मानते हैं।

‘गजल” नामक इस विधा में कवि राजनीतिज्ञों के झूठे वायदों पर व्यंग्य करता है कि वे हर घर में चिराग उपलब्ध कराने का वायदा करते हैं, परंतु यहाँ तो शहर में ही चिराग नहीं है। कवि को पेड़ों के साये में धूप लगती है अर्थात् आश्रयदाताओं के यहाँ भी कष्ट मिलते हैं। अत: वह हमेशा के लिए इन्हें छोड़कर जाना ठीक समझता है। वह उन लोगों के जिंदगी के सफर को आसान बताता है जो परिस्थिति के अनुसार स्वयं को बदल लेते हैं। मनुष्य को खुदा न मिले तो कोई बात नहीं, उसे अपना सपना नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए। थोड़े समय के लिए ही सही, हसीन सपना तो देखने को मिलता है। कुछ लोगों का विश्वास है कि पत्थर पिघल नहीं सकते। कवि आवाज़ के असर को देखने के लिए बेचैन है। शासक शायर की आवाज को दबाने की कोशिशकरता है; क्योंकि वह उसकी सत्ता को चुनौती देता है। कवि किसी दूसरे के आश्रय में रहने के स्थान पर अपने घर में जीना चाहता है।

‘दरख्तों का साया’ और ‘धूप’ का क्या प्रतीकार्थ है?

‘दरख्तों का साया’ का अर्थ है-जनकल्याण की संस्थाएँ। ‘धूप’ का अर्थ है-कष्ट। कवि कहना चाहता है कि भारत में संस्थाएँ लोगों को सुख देने की बजाय कष्ट देने लगी हैं। वे भ्रष्टाचार का अड्डा बन गई हैं।
