RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 20 Ex 20.5 – Overview

The fifth exercise of RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 20 consists of 10 questions. All of these problems are based on the inner and outer area of the circle. Each question will consist of different difficulty levels but every problem will demand the use of the area of the circle concept.

Area of a Circle

We can define the area of the circle as the total territory taken by the circle in the 2-dimensional plane.
Area of the circle, A = πr² ( here, r – Radius of the Circle, the value of the π is equal to (22 / 7) or 3.14 ), we call it as Pi r squared.
Area of the circle, A = π(d²/4)
The unit of the square is “square units” like m², cm², etc.

Important Definitions

1. Circle

We can define the circle as an enclosed geometrical shape. Also, the circle is the closed curve whose outer line is equidistant from the central point.

2. The radius of the circle

We can define the radius of the circle as the line joining the central point of a particular circle to the outward boundary of the same circle. The radius is a ( 1 / 2 ) of the diameter of the circle. It is denoted by the symbol, r or R. Here, we can say,

r = d/2 or R = D/2

3. The diameter of the circle

W can define the diameter of the circle as the line dividing the circle into two equal partitions. The diameter is double the radius of the circle. It is denoted by the symbol, d or D. Here, we can say that –

d = 2r and D = 2R

Square Area and Circle Area

We can say that the area of a circle is around 80% of the total area of the square. This statement is applicable whenever the diameter of the circle and the value of the side of the square is identical.
