NTSE Exam 2020

NTSE ( National Talent Search Examination) Conducted By NCERT Every once in a year to Award the Scholarship for talented students Across the Country. The state education boards and NCERT prescribe NTSE 2020 Exam Pattern on their official websites. The examination is organized every year at two levels:

  • Stage – 1 (State level).
  • Stage – 2 (National level).

You should also know that exam is divided into two parts, i.e. Mental Ability Test (MAT), and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for both stages and you need to know the latest syllabus and NTSE exam pattern to prepare for both stages of exams.

Detailed NTSE Syllabus 2020

The exam pattern is same for both NTSE Stage 1 and Stage 2. In both the stages, there are two sections,

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT),
  • Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).

NTSE 2020 Stage-I Exam Pattern

You should know that the Stage-I exam is organized State/UT level by the concerned State/UT authorities. You have select one language from English or Hindi to solve the paper. You will be awarded one mark for every correct answer. There is no negative marking at this stage.

The paper is divided into two parts:

Part 1 – Mental Ability test (MAT): Here, you will find logical and analytical reasoning based questions. A total of 50 questions is to be answered under this section.

Part 2 – Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): This part consists of 150 questions from Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and English Language. This section judges the student’s reading abilities, interpretation, evaluation, and general awareness of the subjects.

NTSE 2020 Stage-II Exam Pattern

Stage-II exam is conducted at the National Level. After qualifying the Stage-I (State-level) exam, candidates will be allowed to appear stage II exam to compete for the scholarship. The paper is divided into two parts – MAT and SAT, like that in Stage-I. There will be 100 questions in both MAT and SAT (Science-40, Maths-20, Social science-40).

You will get the duration of both the exams is 2 hours or 120 minutes. Same as the Stage 1 exam, there is no negative marking in NTSE Stage 2 exam. You should keep in mind that only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit.

The final selection will be made based on the total marks scored in MAT and SAT.

NTSE Exam Day Instructions

You need to follow the important instructions on the NTSE Exam Day, as given below.

  • You should reach the test center 45 minutes before the test commences.
  • If you reach more than 15 minutes after the scheduled test time, you will not be allowed to take the test.
  • You must bring the Admit Card, photo identity, and ball pen to the exam center.
  • You should not bring any type of gadget, watch, and calculator inside the exam center.
