NTSE Notification 2019

The National Talent Search Examination, popularly known as NTSE. It is one of the most competitive and prestigious scholarship programs in India.

NTSE exam is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). It is done to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent in India for thestudents of Class 10.

Every year around 5 lakh students appear for the exam 1000 scholarships, out of which 775 are unreserved. After selection, you will get monetary benefits all through academic life. You will get several other benefits all through life.

NTSE Notification 2019 Important Dates

The first stage of NTSE 2019-20 will be held on the following dates

  • 03 November 2019 – for Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands.
  • 04 November 2019 – for All other states and Union territories.
  • 17 November 2019, for Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal Delhi NCR, and Jammu & Kashmir

The second stage of NTSE 2019-20 will be held on 10th May 2020.

NTSE Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria as per the NTSE Notification are as below:

  • Students studying in Class 10 in any recognized school, including students under Open & Distance Learning, are eligible to appear in Stage 1 of the NTSE exam.
  • Selected students from the NTSE Stage 1 exam (State-level) are eligible to appear for the Stage 2 of NTSE.
  • Students of Indian nationality studying abroad can appear for NTSE Stage 2 directly. But they must have secured 60 percent marks in the last annual examination conducted by the school.

How To Apply For NTSE 2019?

You should check newspapers for the NTSE advertisement. You should bookmark this page and check it from time to time. We update all the latest news about NTSE 2019-20 here.

Once the advertisement is out, you will have to do the following:

  • You should collect the NTSE application form,
  • You have to fill up the application form,
  • You have to get it signed by the Principal of your school,
  • You should make a payment of NTSE application fees,
  • Finally, you should submit your NTSE application form to the State Liaison Officer.

Documents to Be Attached with Application Form According To NTSE Notification 2019

You need to send following documents along with application form.

  • Colored photograph not older than 6 months from the date of form filling.
  • Dark background and no goggles only simple spectacles.
  • No makeup in the photograph clicked for the form.
  • Hair must be properly tied.
  • Photograph must be clicked in school uniform.
  • Indian nationals do not have to produce any document with the application form.
  • Students of Indian origin who are doing class 10 from abroad, have to prove their Indian citizenship, so they have to attach a copy of class 10 marks

Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of NTSE 2019 will have two papers as tabulated below:

Marking Scheme: You will get one mark after every correct answer. There is no negative marking in NTSE.

Time Duration: You will get 120 minutes for each paper for both NTSE 2019-20 Stage-1 and 2.

Type of Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions will be asked for both MAT and SAT papers.

Exam Mode: You have to answer the items on an OMR sheet provided at the examination center as per instructions.

There is no specific NTSE 2019 syllabus available. However, the questions are generally coming from the level of Classes IX and X.

NTSE Notification 2019-20: Admit Card

You can easily download your admit card from the NCERT website. Here you can get the step by step guide to download the NTSE Admit Card for Stage-2:

  • Step 1: You have to go to the official website.
  • Step 2: You should click on the link to download the Admit Card for NTSE Stage 2 exam 2019-20.
  • Step 3: You have to enter the necessary details, like State Roll Number, Date of Birth, etc.
  • Step 4: You should click on “Submit.”
  • Step 5: You can see the Admit Card will appear on the screen.
  • Step 6: No, you should download the Admit Card and take a print out of the same.

NTSE Result & Selection Procedure

NTSE Stage-1 Merit List: Every State/Union Territory publishes a merit list of their own for the Stage 1 of  based on the performance of the candidates in NTSE 2019 Result .

NTSE Stage-1 Qualifying Marks: Generally, qualifying marks for various category students are given below.

  • For General category students for each of the papers (MAT and SAT) is 40 percent.
  • For SC/ST/physically challenged candidates 32 percent.

The NTSE Stage-1 Result: The Stage-1 result is published generally between January & March. You should keep in mind that the marks of the State level Examination are not added to the National Level Examination for the award of scholarship. This exam is conducted only to recommend the candidates for second level NTS examination conducted by the NCERT.

NTSE Stage-2: After passing the NTSE Stage-1, you will be eligible to appear for NTSE Stage 2, usually conducted in May. The final merit list will be created based on the performance of the students. An approximate of 1000 students will be selected for the scholarship during the month of September 2020.

NTSE 2019 Cut off

You may that the Cut off marks are the minimum marks required to clear the examination. The cut off marks will be varies based on state. The final cut off mark will be declared by NCERT after the completion of stage 2 examination. You will find the category wise and subject wise cut off marks in NCERT website.
