  1. After getting selected in IPS you will be trained at SVPNPA which means Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy. This academy is situated in Hyderabad.  
  2. Here the candidates will be trained through various physical activities, also with weapons. They acquire knowledge about laws, social issues, and management of the region.  
  3. Later comes the role of Probation. In this, the selected candidates will be sent to their state cadres. During this period the candidates will learn various things from their seniors.  
  4. After this probation period, the candidates will get the senior time scale in the 5th year of service. During this time they will get promoted to Additional Superintendents of Police in the districts.  
  5. After this period they will be promoted to Junior Administrative Grade and the grade pay will become INR 7,600. 
  6. Later they promoted to selection grade after 13 years of service. At this level they become SSP.  
  7. Now after serving 14 years in service they get the post of DIG and grade pay will becomes INR 8,900 In PB4 
  8. After 18 years of service, they become SAG and gets grade pay of INR 10,000 
  9. Later after 25 years in service, they become HAG and gets grade pay of 12,000 
  10. Later in 30 years of service, they become DG and get grade pay on an apex scale.
