RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 23 Exercise 23.3 – Introduction

Here, you will be practicing the questions related to a dice that is being thrown almost 100 times. Its outcomes are noted in tabular form. The solution file that we have attached to this article consists of a detailed explanation of finding that what are the probabilities of having the 3, 6, 4, or 1 as the output if the dice are being thrown randomly.

The answers in the pdf file attached to this article on the RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 23 Exercise 23.3 contain the in-depth use of the step-by-step depiction of the formulas and it’s methods. If students follow these steps, then they will be easily able to score good marks.

RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 23 Exercise 23.3 – “Probability of any particular Event”

Let us assume that any particular event E, can take place in the total r ways, from the sum of n.

Here, we can express the probability of happening of any event in the following manner:
P ( E ) = r / n

Below we have mentioned the way to represent the probability of any event not take place or when it’s the failure of that particular event:
P ( E’ ) = ( n – r ) / n = 1 – ( r / n)

You will learn more about this in the higher classes.

Here, in the following example, the E’ represents that the particular event will not take place.

Now, it becomes obvious to say that:
P ( E ) + P ( E’ ) = 1

It states that in any random test or experiment, the total of all the probabilities will always be equivalent to 1.

RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 23 Exercise 23.3 – “What do you mean by Equally Likely Events?”

The Equally Likely Events can be defined as the events having the same probability of occurrence. Henceforth, the results we get here of a sample space are said to be equally likely only in the case all of them have the same chances of taking place. Let us explain this via an example:

Whenever a die is being rolled or thrown, then the chances or the probability of getting the number is equivalent to 1 / 6. In this very same manner, the probability of getting any other number like 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 will also be equivalent to 1 / 6 only, having said so that the particular die is rolled one at a time.

When a die is rolled, the Sample Space we get is (S) = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6}

Example Question 1 – Find the probability of getting the number 3 once the die is rolled?

Solution – Here, as per the question the Sample Space = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}

Here, the Number of the favorable event = ‘1’ ( which is ‘3’ )

And, the total number of outcomes = 6

Henceforth, the Probability of getting the number 3 when the die is rolled, P = 1/6

RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 23 Exercise 23.3 “Frequently Asked Questions – Probability”

What do you mean by probability?
It is one of the concepts to be studied in the field of mathematics dealing with the happening of any random event.

Give the direct formula used for calculating the probability.
We can define the formula of probability as the chances of an event to occur which is equivalent to the number of outcomes divided by the total number of outcomes.

Mention the different kinds of probability.
There are three major types of probabilities:
Experimental Probability
Theoretical Probability
Axiomatic Probability
