## RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Maths Chapter 2 Ex 2.3 – Overview

A fraction represented with the quotient and the remainder is known as Mixed fraction. It is also called ”Mixed Numbers”. Eg: In 3 (1/5), here 3 is a whole number and 1/5 is a proper fraction.

### Converting Improper fraction into mixed fraction

1. Divide the numerator value along with the denominator value in a specific set of fractions i.e. 13/5.
2. The integer part that you will get in the final answer will eventually be the same as the integer part that you shall get in the Mixed Fraction, i.e., 2.
3. The value of the Denominator is going to be the same as the real value, i.e 5.
4. You can convert the given improper fraction 13/5 in the form of a Mixed fraction which will look like 2 (3/5).

### Converting Mixed Fraction Into Improper Fraction

1. Multiply the denominator and the whole number, i.e. Multiply 5 by 2 as shown in the following example, 2 (3/5). 5 × 2  =10
2. Add the numerator value of the Fraction with the output you got in the initial step. i.e Add 3 + 10 = 13.
3. Denominator will be the same throughout the operation. i.e. 5.
4. The Improper fraction you get as a result is the same as the initial value, i.e., 13/5.
• Mixed Equivalent Fractions: Two fractions are equivalent if after the simplification process their respective values are equal to each other. Eg: 1/2 and 3/6 are considered to be the two equivalent fractions as you can see that  3/6 = 1/2.
