According to the latest news by the Railway Recruitment Board, there are 2.3 lakh vacancies in Indian Railways for various posts. Piyush Goyal, Union Railway Minister said to the press that the Indian Railways will undertake another RRB Mega Recruitment drive to hire 2.3 lakh employees in the upcoming two years. This drive will be conducted in two phases. Out of 2.3 lakh vacancies, 10% will be reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
The first phase has begun and it is in process. V.K.Yadav, the Railway Board Chairman said that the first phase of recruitment of 1.5 lakh employees is in the process which will be completed by March-April. Yadav also added that the main focus of the Railway department is to fill all the vacancies.
Goyal said to press reporters that around 4 lakh candidates will be hired in the next two years for various positions. He said that around 12 lakh people are working in the Indian Railway department. Every year about 40,000-50,000 people are retiring. Hence, the Railway Recruitment Board has come up with an initiative to hire candidates in advance. So that no posts will remain vacant in our Railway department anymore.
Goyal also added that Indian Railways has become the first central government sector to implement the 10% quota reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) people in jobs.
