b) A vessel is to be designed to withstand an internal pressure of 150 MN/m2. An internal diameter of 30 cm is specified, and steel having yield point of 450 MN/m2 has been selected. Calculate the wall thickness required by the various theories with a factor of safety 1.5 and ^ = 0.3.

SECTION – II
Q7) a) A single effect evaporator is to be operated at absolute pressure of 0.13 bar. Estimate the heat transfer area necessary to concentrate 4500 kg/hr of caustic soda solution from 10% to 40% (by weight) using saturated steam at 1170C as heating media. The overall heat transfer coefficient may be taken as 1.25 kW/m^C. 
Data : Specific heat of feed = 4000 J/Kg0C
Specific heat of Product = 3260 J/Kg0C
Feed temperature = 180C
BPR of Solution = 300C
Density of Boiling liquid = 1390 kg/m3
The liquid level in the evaporator is 1200 mm above the heating surface.
