DESIGN OF SMART AND HIGH RISE BUILDING

 

1. Design Criteria: Design philosophy, static and dynamic approach, Structural systems and

concepts, Effect of openings. Large panel construction. Foundation superstructure

interaction.                   (4)

2. Gravity and lateral load resisting Structural Systems: High rise behavior, Rigid frames,

braced frames, in?filled frames, shear walls, coupled shear walls, wall?frames, tubular,

cores, Steel?Concrete Composite Floor Systems Aluminum Façades.      (6)

3. Analysis and Design: Modeling for approximate analysis, accurate analysis, subsystem

interaction, differential movement, creep and shrinkage effects, temperature effects

and fire.                           (10)

4. Stability of tall Buildings: Overall buckling analysis of frames, wall frames, approximate

methods, second order effects of gravity loading, simultaneous first order and P?Delta

analysis, translational, Torsional instability.                     (8)

5. Foundations: Design pile foundations.               (4)

Smart Building Concept

1. Intelligent building automation: Concepts, building automation system, Integration with

building structures management system: fire, security, maintenance, energy. Characteristics and

limitations of automation systems in buildings, Operation and maintenance of each system;

install and administer structured cabling system Structural design with flexibility. External skin

systems. Intelligent flooring. Raised floor system.               (4)

2. Telecommunication network management: Various telecommunication systems. Major trends,

integrated voice/data telecommunications.                (3)

3. Building wiring: Transmission media. Distribution system, Electrical wiring management.    (3)
