The matter for the first edition of this book was written by me when I was CPWD Superintending Engineer in Nagpur. It was published in 1987 and was the first Indian book on the subject written in SI units. The book was selected in the list of the 100 technical books by Indian publishing industry for exhibition in USA. The book was adopted as a recommended textbook by IIT Madras and even today also, it is recommended in many universities.

Since then there had been lot of changes in airconditioning technologies due to evolution of VRF type airconditioning, Chilled beam systems, New ecofriendly refrigerants, IBMS and many other innovative technologies.
