Industrial Pharmacy - I by Dr. Ashok A. Hajare
Book Summary:

Industrial Pharmacy is a discipline which includes manufacturing, development, marketing and distribution of drug products including quality assurance of these activities. This broad area relates to different functions in pharmaceutical industry and having contact areas with engineering and economics. Industrial Pharmacy-I course have a broad scope which contains all the kinds of activities related to manufacturing of variety of dosage forms. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi has framed Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) Course Regulations 2014. The Industrial Pharmacy-I is a course at Semester V of Third year of the B. Pharm. programme. It is a great pleasure for me to present this book in the hands of readers. The book is strictly written as per syllabus framed by PCI under Section 6, 7 & 8 of B. Pharm. Course Regulation 2014. An attempt has been made to present this subject and the concepts therein in a most simple and understandable form to the pharmacy students and for fellow teacher colleagues. The sequence of Units and its constituent chapters as given in syllabus is maintained while writing the manuscript. In this book wherever needed full forms and abbreviations, pictorial diagrams, tabular data, numerical, and examples of formulation including marketed products and manufacturers are given. Model questions generally asked during various examinations are given at the end of every chapter as Review questions. Students after completion of this course would be competent in handling the research and development, production and quality assurance requirements of dosage forms specified in this course. It is expected that students of the revised curriculum will have a solid foundation in product research and development, manufacturing and quality assurance, and pharmaceutical engineering. Through students of this course, it is expected that the pharmacy profession will greatly contribute to the development of quality, safe and costeffective medicines.
