Medicinal Chemistry - IV by Dr. K. G. Bothara
Book Summary:

Paul Ehrlich's assumption that protozoal diseases could be cured by drugs which selectively react with the target tissues of the protozoa where the target tissue may be an enzyme, DNA, RNA or even a structure of unknown constitution was the foundation of chemotherapy. The emphasis in this book is given on the principles upon which chemotherapy is based. These principles are appropriately illustrated by groups of drugs in current use. We aim to provide a framework of basic drug-design which explains the development of drugs under clinical use.

It is not possible for one to acquire a complete up-to-date knowledge about all drugs. But many people in diverse fields may need a foundation upon which they may build up the specific knowledge about drugs as per their own needs. Our aim is to expose and elaborate such fundamentals in a systematic manner. The book focusses mainly on examples and illustrates the principles and mechanisms with the liberal use of tables and figures. Chapters dealing with new areas of knowledge are included to please the interests of students and the readers.
