Bio-organic Chemistry And Drug Design by Mrs. Ashwini P. Shewale, Mrs. Pradnya N. Jagtap, Ms. Pallavi S. Patil
It gives us an immense pleasure to present the Textbook on “Bio-organic Chemistry and Drug Design.” This new subject is introduced in the syllabus of Third Year B. Pharm. (Sem VI) of Savitribai Phule Pune University which deals with disciplines like Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacology. This book is structured as per syllabus of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The chapter on Bio-organic chemistry covers basic consideration of bio-organic chemistry, techniques of molecular adaptation, molecular recognition and its relevance in drug design. The chapters on Enzymes, Nucleic acid and Receptor explain their general biochemical features, physiological role and drugs acting as their agonists and antagonist. It also explains how enzymes, nucleic acids and receptors can act as drug targets.
The book also includes chapters on Drug Design, Approaches in Rational Drug Design of Enzyme Inhibitors which cover basic principles of drug design, various case studies for development of drugs.
