CLASSIFICATION OF COMPUTERS
INTRODUCTION OF COMPUTERS Computer is an electronic device which accepts the data, processes the data and gives the meaningful output.
TYPES OF COMPUTERS Based on Operating Principles computers are classified into three types. They are Digital computers, Analog computers and Hybrid computers.
A. Digital Computers These are high speed programmable, electronic devices that perform mathematical calculations, compare values and store the results. They recognize data by counting discrete signals representing either a high ON or low OFF state of voltages. All numbers, alphabets and special symbols can be represented by 0's and 1's.
B. Analog Computers Analog computers recognize data as a Continous measurement of physical properties. Their output is usually in the form of readings on dials or graphs. C. Hybrid Computers Computer falls into a category in between analog and digital. Because of the special design in processor and memory, some of the operations are performed digitally and some in analog.
