Practical Geography

The study of Practical Geography has got unprecedented importance in the recent times. Though the technical and applied branches are the leading ones the study of Practical Geography is equally important for adopting cartographic techniques and other information. This book is specially prepared for the students of First Year B. Sc. class (C.B.C.S.) of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. It is also useful for the syllabi of other universities. This book is concerned with the experimental aspects and allied information which is the core part of studies in the subject.

The book has been divided in two sections. The first section includes the chapters dealing with the concepts of Scale and Cartographic Techniques. The Second section consists of the chapters dealing with the concepts in Practical Geography, i.e. Projections: Introductions of Projection, Classification of Projection, Types of Projection, Construction of Projection and Choice of Projection.

In the preparation of this book, we got encouragement and support from Dr. S. C. Ahire, Dr. Lalit Sandanshiv (members of BOS) and our dear friend Dr. Chandrashekhar Kulkarni. Together we shared valuable time and ideas needed for the preparation of this book. We shall not extend formal thanks to him but remain sincerely indebted to him.
