Plant Taxonomy by Dr P S Baviskar, Dr G M Rane, Prof C D Patil
With great pleasure and satisfaction we are presenting the first edition of Text book on Plant Taxonomy of F.Y.B.Sc. Botany in the hands of students & teachers of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The syllabus of F.Y.B.Sc. is revised according to the UGC syllabus this year. It was great challenge for us to write Plant families for the students who doesn’t have much knowledge of Plant morphology. So the glossary of terms used in Plant Taxonomy is given in this book. Many topics of Post graduate level are included in this syllabus so we tried our level best to give the matter in more illustrative and simplified manner. Relevant questions are also given at the end of each unit. As per the syllabus no book so far provides all the information collectively and properly, therefore the present text book has been designed accordingly in order to meet all the requirements of the F.Y.B.Sc. students.
We acknowledge with gratitude the kind of help and encouragement that received in the preparation of this book from Dr. D. A. Kumawat, Chairperson B.O.S. in Botany of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.
We are greatly indebted to different authors whose well known books and research paper were essential as a reference while writing this book. The present book has been thoroughly revised in order to keep no errors or typographic mistakes. Any suggestions for the improvements of the book will be thankfully acknowledged and as far us possible followed by the authors. We are thankful to Shri. Rangrao Patil and his staff of Prashant Publications, Jalgaon for bringing out this book in time.
