We feel indeed very happy to present First Edition this book of "Elementary Probability Theory" for the students of F.Y. B. Sc.. The book is written according to the new syllabus (C.B.C.S. Pattern) of Shivaji University, Kolhapur with effect from June, 2018.

The main purpose of the book is to provide foundation as well as comprehensive background of ‘Probability Theory’ to beginners in simple and interesting manner. In order to make the contents of the book easy to comprehend, we have included number of illustrations, remarks, figures, diagrams etc. to elucidate statistical concepts. Ample numbers of theoretical as well as numerical problems are provided in each Chapter. At the end of each chapter exercises having various types of questions which covers university question papers up to April, 2018 are provided along with answers of multiple choice questions. The numerical problems will also be useful for the F.Y.B.Sc. students to prepare for Practicals. A model question paper is set for students self-assessment.
