This had contributed mainly to the introduction of the subject, Extension Education as a subject of study in all the training centres and educational institutes, which offered agricultural and other development oriented sciences. Transformation in the development scenario is now observable which is due to newer initiatives by extension professionals. Change is imminent in any developing society. The process of change is fostered by the planned extension approaches. The practicing of extension is in transition which
4 warrants not simply the extension workers but the knowledge workers'. This is to inculcate the professionalism in every aspect of the development. As the title of the book implied, any technology package or any development strategy should reach the unreached with minimal time lag through effective TOT systems which alone can provide a right base for the development workers to prove their mettle qualitatively and quantitatively. It is often emphasized that some kind of metamorphosis has to take place in this emerging scenario as farmers change themselves to entrepreneurs extension workers to extension professionals farmer groups to commodity groups and so on. This change perspective warrants strong conceptual base for all those involved in agricultural rural extension. Large number of rural development programmes are being undertaken by the government, corporate and private sectors for the upliftment of the masses.
