The Central Board of Secondary Education administers the CTET, a national-level exam (CBSE). The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is held twice a year to determine candidates' eligibility for appointment as teachers in Classes 1–8. 

The CTET exam is divided into two sessions for Papers 1 and 2. Paper 1 of the CTET is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1-5, while Paper 2 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 6-8. Candidates who want to teach in Grades 1-8 must take both papers.
