Here are few steps which will help you in calculating the marks of the UPSC IAS exam.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>First, you always need to know about the marking scheme of the exam.<\/li>\n<li>These marking schemes could easily be understood if you look over the front page.<\/li>\n<li>However, this marking Scheme is different from one to another scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So now let\u2019s look over the marking scheme of the UPSC IAS Preliminary Exam Paper-II and Paper-I.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"upsc-ias-calculation-of-marks-for-paper-i\"><\/span>UPSC IAS Calculation of Marks for Paper-I<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The UPSC IAS Preliminary Paper-I Examination marks can be calculated through these few steps:-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Candidates will get 150 marks for the correct answer.<\/li>\n<li>This means that 75\u00d72= 150<\/li>\n<li>For each incorrect answer, the Candidates will get a negative marking of 0.33%<\/li>\n<li>This means that for every wrong answer 0.66 marks will be deducted.<\/li>\n<li>This can be easily understood with an example as if 25 questions were answered incorrectly then the negative marking for 25 incorrect answers would be 25\u00d70.66= 16.5<\/li>\n<li>As a result, 16.5 marks will be deducted from the correctly answered questions.<\/li>\n<li>This will turn as the final score for Paper-I will be 150-16.5= 133.5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now let\u2019s look over the calculation of Marks for Paper-II<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"calculation-of-marks-for-paper-ii\"><\/span>Calculation of Marks for Paper-II<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>UPSC Prelims Paper-II CSAT has 80 questions for 200 marks.<\/li>\n<li>In this paper, each question Carries 2.5 marks each.<\/li>\n<li>However, in this paper, there is no such negative marking scheme from question number 74 to 80.<\/li>\n<li>As questions from 74 to 80 are based on decision making. This is the reason that these questions do not contain negative markings.<\/li>\n<li>This can be more understood in this manner. Suppose among 80 questions if a candidate has answered 65 correct and 15 incorrect and thinking that the candidate has got 15 incorrect answers from Question number 1 to 73 and 5 incorrect answers from question number 74 to 80.<\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Now th<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">e Candidates can see that they get the total <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">score of the Candidate in CSAT Paper<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">II <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">would be as <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Correct Answer:<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">50\u00d72.5= 137.5 marks. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">However, the incorrect answers will be from <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">question number 1 to 73 will be Calculated as <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">15\u00d70.83= <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">12.45 marks. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Thus th<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">e <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">score will be 137.5<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">12.45= 125.05 marks. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">In this way, the Paper<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">I and Paper<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">II marks will be <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">calculated.
