the product of two factors with unlike signs is negative.<\/p>\n<p>(ii) If x is a variable &amp; m, n are positive integers, then (x\u1d50 \u00d7 x\u207f) = x<sup>m+n<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><sup>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/sup>Thus, (x\u00b3 \u00d7 x\u2075) = x\u2078, (x\u2076 + x\u2074) = x<sup>6+4 <\/sup>= x<sup>10<\/sup>, etc.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monomials<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is a variable, a number, or a product of a number &amp; one or more variables. The only rules are that the variables should be increased to only positive integer powers (no square roots or 1\/x&#8217;s accepted), &amp; no plus or minus signs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Multiplication of two Monomials<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It means the product of their numerical coefficients &amp; the product of their literal coefficients. When two monomials are multiplied, initially multiply the coefficients, &amp; then multiply the variable terms.<\/p>\n<p>As per the power of literal quantities, we can express, m<sup>2<\/sup> = m \u00d7 m &amp; m<sup>3<\/sup> = m \u00d7 m \u00d7 m. Here, m<sup>2<\/sup> &amp; m<sup>3<\/sup> both are monomials.
