Subject-verb concord<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This part tries to establish a connection between the subject and the verb. There are some conditions that the subject and the verb have to fulfill. The number and person of the subject must agree with the verb in any given sentence. This agreement of the subject and the verb is termed Concord. There are certain rules for this agreement that you need to check to understand the concept.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-use-of-passive-voice\"><\/span><strong>5. Use of passive voice<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The voice is a form of the verb that talks about the connection between the action that the verb expresses and the participants identified by its arguments. In other words, <em>voice<\/em> is something that concentrates on the quality of a verb. It tells us whether its\u00a0subject acts (active voice) or is acted upon (passive voice).<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-reporting\"><\/span><strong>6. Reporting<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In the case of reporting the students are asked to transform a sentence. The students are requested to transform a direct speech into an indirect speech and vice versa.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7-questions\"><\/span><strong>7. Statements<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The student\u2019s focus should be on the type of statement which he has been given and he must follow the command while transforming various statements.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9-clauses\"><\/span><strong>9. Clauses<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>A\u00a0clause\u00a0is a group of related words; but unlike a phrase, a clause has a subject and verb. An\u00a0independent clause,\u00a0along with having a subject and verb, expresses a complete thought and can stand alone as a coherent sentence. In contrast, a\u00a0subordinate\u00a0or\u00a0dependent clause\u00a0does not express a complete thought and therefore is\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0a sentence<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10-noun-clauses\"><\/span><strong>10. Noun clauses<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Noun clauses\u00a0are\u00a0dependent clauses\u00a0that can replace subjects, objects, or subject complements in sentences. These clauses start with either interrogative pronouns or expletives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11-relative-clauses\"><\/span><strong>11.
