Writers must exaggerate occurrences in order to write comedy and sarcasm. As a result, the events described here may appear incredible and full of superlatives, but don&#8217;t be shocked.<\/p>\n<p>The ability to be realistic and credible is not a criterion for appraising this type of writing. The way government offices work, which is referred to be bureaucratic, will make you laugh out loud in this chapter. The system is also depicted as heartless and unnatural in the novel.<\/p>\n<p>A strong storm slammed the city, and a large tree of Jamun (Indian blueberry or black plum) crashed on the secretariat&#8217;s lawn, crushing a man beneath it. The gardener noticed and informed the peon; the peon then informed the clerk; the clerk then informed the superintendent; and eventually, everyone was informed of the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>All gathered around the Jamun tree, lamenting its demise. They were concerned about how juicy the tree&#8217;s fruits were and how they would be able to load their bags with enough fruit to feed their entire family. No one seemed troubled or concerned about the man who lay beneath the tree.<\/p>\n<p>Some thoughtful young men considered felling the tree and removing the man from it, but the superintendent informed them that the tree is within the jurisdiction of the agriculture department, and they could not chop it down without their permission.<\/p>\n<p>This incident then makes its way to the agriculture department, which passes it on to the horticulture section because the Indian blueberry tree was producing a lot of fruit every year.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of it all, it emerges that the man crushed beneath the tree is a poet. As word spreads, the situation is brought to the attention of the cultural department. The man who was lying beneath the tree was writhing in pain and waiting for his fate to be decided by all these departments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The forest department was preparing to chop down the tree when they learned that it had been planted ten years earlier by Petunia&#8217;s Prime Minister. The foreign department believed that cutting the tree would jeopardise their relationship with Petunia.<\/p>\n<p>When the Indian Prime Minister returned from his abroad trip, he seized control of the situation. Meanwhile, the man beneath the tree was losing his fight for survival. It was too late when the Prime Minister eventually gave the order to chop down the tree; the guy crushed beneath it had perished. A man lost his life because of the unemotional and cruel rules and regulations of the government system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\"
