Processing of advanced materials; Generative Manufacturing Processes: rapid prototyping, general features and classifications, CAD and GMP software, creation of layers, building of metallic objects, considerations for adopting RP technology. 

Definition and classification  of automation; High-volume production systems- transfer mechanisms, transfer lines; NC production systems- features of DNC, CNC and adaptive control; Robotics- anatomy, control system, programming and applications. 

FMS: work stations, material handling, computer control, planning; group technology; AGV system; Automated Inspection and Testing – principle and methods, sensor technologies, machine vision. 

CIM: CAD, CAM, CAPP and their integration. 

Assembly systems and line balancing; Production economics.
