I.  (a)What are the advantages and disadvantages of railways in comparison with other modes of transport? Give your reasons for the recent tendency to move goods by highway transport.

(b) What is creep? Discuss the theories propounded for the probable causes of creep and how to arrest the creep.

(c) Draw a typical cross-section of permanent way on cutting.
