Top Education Boards in India and their Features

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE): 

                                          

                                          

CBSE is the largest and most popular education board in India. CBSE conducts the All India Senior School Certificate  Examination (AISSCE) for Class 12 and the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) for Class 10.

               

Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE): 

                                          

                                          

ICSE board is known for its comprehensive and detailed curriculum.  Conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination for Class 10 and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination for Class 12. 

               

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS):

                                          

                                          

NIOS is an open schooling system providing opportunities for students who can't attend regular schools.  Offers flexibility in subject choices, learning pace, and examination schedule. Conducts examinations for secondary and senior secondary levels.

Each state in India has its own education board governing school education within the state.  State boards follow their own curriculum, textbooks, and examination patterns. Conduct examinations for Class 10 and Class 12.

               

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE): 

                                          

                                          

CISCE is the governing body for ICSE and ISC examinations.  Focuses on a comprehensive curriculum aiming to provide a balanced education. Conducts the ICSE examination for Class 10 and the ISC examination for Class 12.
