As a part of this book, the first chapter INTERFERENCE deals with the superposition of waver, interference in thin films, wedge shaped film and Newton rings where as the second chapter, DIFFRACTION reveals the concept of diffraction and diffraction due to single slit, double slits and diffraction grating, but the third chapter, POLARIZATION concentrates on the principle, production and properties of polarized light. The forth chapter, LASER surprises us with its outstanding characteristics, construction of different laser systems along with its applications where as the fifth chapter, FIBER OPTICS guides us how an optical signal propagates through optical fiber by total internal reflection along with classification of fibers, loss in fibers and applications including communication field. The sixth chapter, CRYSTALLOGRAPHY directs us to name of the crystal planes, find out the inter planar spacing, understanding the structure of crystals through X-ray diffraction methods such as Laue and Debye - Sherrers methods along with applications. The seventh chapter, X-RAY DIFFRACTION AND DEFECTS IN CRYSTALS draws readers’ attention with the seven crystal systems, 14 Bravais lattices, some cubic crystals like sc bcc, fcc, diamond cubic and hexagonal crystal structure with their packing factors.
