Every person is busy with one activity or other to earn livelihood. Business, like human-body, has its own problems which need to be understood, analysed and resolved by the manager or a person who is managing it. Here we may take the example of a doctor who has to understand the structure and working of human body before giving treatment. Likewise, the study of principles and practice of business is essential for a person in solving the various problems of the business. Therefore, it can be said that business is related to human activities. Human activities may be divided into two categories namely economic and non-economic activities. The first category, economic activities, is related to production, distribution and exchange of goods. These activities are done for earning livelihood and may be called occupations. For example, a lawyer goes to the court, a teacher to school or college, a worker goes to factory to earn a living. The second category, non-economic activities, are carried out not for earning livelihood for himself or his family. These activities include love, sympathy, humanity, etc. Examples are, a housewife cooks food for her family, a boy helping an old man in crossing the
