PREFACE Empowerment of women is the recent interest of scientists, planners and policy makers and women in India .Research and extension activities are being made through out the globe to empower the women in various facets of development. There is a need to evolve appropriate means and ways to empower them. The authors have made attempt to mention guiding principles, environmental aspects, and optimum use of available resources, social marketing, evaluation and monitoring of programmes designed for women empowerment. The concept of farming system research, land based enterprise family welfare and transfer of technology are interwoven variables to accelerate the process of women empowerment.
