PREFACE Precision Farming or Precision Agriculture is a modem management strategy that employs detailed, site-specific informa tion to precisely manage production inputs. Maximisation of quality
agroforestry, aquaculture fishery or pisciculture, pearl cultivation and other biological products , etc. need more attention for sustainable development along with region site-specific crop planning, application of microprocessor and computers in agricul ture, which are some of the new emerging areas of modem agriculture to be introduced for smart recovery in precision agriculture. The objectives of Precision Farming are to promote new ventures in the Sunrise Industry, in horticulture bringing together various stakeholders, to explore partnership and strategic alliances both in developed and developing countries, along with frontier technological innovations, extension efforts required, materials and standards and other issues with respect to plasticulture and precision or smart farming. A need for global collaboration, forum of scientists from state implementing agen cies, farmers, academicians, the agri-input industries manufac turers from all over the globe is most important. Dissemination of precision farming technology and a special thrust on the same in some selected pockets of India and other developing countries should be given priority for exchange of ideas and views as well as to facilitate trade negotiations between the countries of the world.
