This book is a collection of thematic lectures, delivered in the Economic Conferences in India and abroad as well as in University Grants Commission’s Refresher Courses in Economics conducted in various Central and State Universities in India, by the author. They also formed part of lectures to the students of Economics in the University of Lucknow in the post graduate classes where the author had been a Professor. The chapters in the book focus on the challenges of growth, development and social justice in the Indian economy, polity and society as well as on the changes happening in the world economy after the break down of the Soviet Russia and cessation of Communist or Socialist challenge to market economy system of Capitalism. The purpose of the writing is not to add one more book on Indian Economy, the area replete with voluminous books.
