Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun An Introduction Situated in the foothills of Shivalik ranges The Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun is a prestigious institution of National importance. It was founded during British Rule in the year 1922. Before independence it was known as Royal Indian Military College. After independence this esteemed institution was named as The Rashtriya Indian Military College. The college is administered by the Union Ministry of Defence through the Director General of Military training, Army. Since its inception the RIMC has produced four chiefs of the Army staff and one chief of the Air staff in India and three in Pakistan. Besides these it has produced many civilian dignitaries as Governors, Ambassadors, Ministers and industrialists. The college has a sprawling campus of 138 acres with a large number of big trees and beautiful flower plants. There are some old elegant buildings in Tudor style. Cadets dormitories, Mess and Academic block are housed in these buildings.
Academic Instructions Academic instructions are imparted by well qualified and highly competent, dedicated teachers. Modern techniques of teaching are used for enhancing the academic standard of the cadets. Periodic tests are held regularly to ensure that the cadets fully understand the contents. After the term end examination each cadet s performance is recorded. Both curricular and extra curricular achievements of a term are also recorded in his dossier. Due weightage is also given to the sessional work done by a cadet both in terms of class work and home work for his promotion to the next higher class. Board examinations for classes X and XII are conducted twice a year. These examinations certifications are recognized by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
