Common Aptitude Test (CAT):
Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is conducted jointly by the Indian Institutes of Management every year for admission to Post Graduate Programme and Fellow Programme. In addition to all IIMs, some other top management institutes use CAT scores for admission. Each of the IIM has its own way of selecting candidates, independent of other IIMs. They use CAT scores and several other inputs in the process of selecting students for the programme. Generally, the process includes a cut off score by the students in individual sections and total exam, followed by a call for group discussion and personal interview.
The basic eligibility for appearing in CAT exam is graduation in any discipline. Students appearing in Final Year exams of graduation can also provisionally apply. The exam is conducted at 23 centers in India.
In CAT examination, the students are generally tested in Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning. The student gets 3 marks for a correct answer and gets a negative marking of (-1) for every wrong answer.
